Hello CREPE users!🖐️
This is the CREPE team, the creators of the commission platform CREPE.
We're back with our eleventh newsletter beneath the bright blue summer skies.
With fall just around the corner, a cool breeze has started to roll in.
This month CREPE has some updates to send along that gentle breeze 🍃
So let’s get started with CREPE’s eleventh newsletter!
|

CREPE Letter's 1st Anniversary! 🎉
|
|
|
Last September, we sent the very first CREPE Letter to our users. Since then, over the past 10 months (excluding our short break), we’ve sent out a total of 10 newsletters. During that time, our letters have been viewed 209,203 times, and we’ve received 185,726 event entries and survey responses from our users.
The CREPE Letter was created as a way to share a wider range of news and updates about CREPE, while also creating a space where we could connect and have conversations with our users. Sometimes, it’s been a newsletter focused on sharing the latest updates; sometimes, a letter from the CREPE team; and sometimes, a guide filled with helpful tips. We’ve been able to make each issue more meaningful thanks to everyone who has continued to read the CREPE Letter and take part in our events and feedback surveys.
We’ll be back with more fun and interesting stories in the future! Thank you to everyone who has been a part of making the CREPE Letter what it is today. 💜

We Participated in the 2026 Emergency Fundraiser for Flood Victims💧
|
|
|
In August, record-breaking heavy rain caused significant damage across Gyeongsangnam-do, including the cities of Geoje and Tongyeong. Many of you may have already heard about the situation. Similarly to when we participated in last year’s emergency fundraiser for wildfire victims, the CREPE team made a donation to the 2026 Emergency Fundraise for Flood Victims through the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association. You can find updates on the response and relief efforts on the Hope Bridge website.
Our deepest sympathies go out to everyone affected by the floods. We sincerely hope that all those impacted can return to safe and peaceful everyday lives soon. |

🖼️ We're developing a commission portfolio feature
The “Portfolio” is a feature that allows artists to select and showcase some of the completed works they’ve created through CREPE.
Only artist accounts can post works to their portfolio, and artists must have completed at least one commission through CREPE before they can use this feature.
When posting a work to their portfolio, artists will also be able to specify the applicable Creative Commons License (CCL) terms and whether the work contains adult content.
Clients will be able to view the artist’s portfolio directly from their profile. |

If problems arise, how should we resolve them?
In the previous “CREPE Tips & Tricks” section, we mentioned that if you come across a post that violates our rules, you can let us know by using the Report feature. But there’s another process that serves a different purpose: the dispute process.
Reporting and the dispute process serve different purposes. Reporting is a way to let the CREPE team know about situations that violate our policies, such as community guideline violations or fraudulent transactions. The dispute process, on the other hand, is used when an issue arises during an ongoing commission. In these cases, CREPE reviews the information and transaction history provided by both parties and helps mediate the situation. In short, reporting is for flagging policy violations, while the dispute process is for resolving issues between parties during a transaction.
Things to remember before applying for a dispute process :
First, you cannot apply for a dispute process once a commission is completed. Once a commission is completed, the payment is transferred to the artist, which means CREPE can no longer assist with refunds or payment adjustments. A commission is automatically completed when the client clicks the Complete button or when the confirmation period expires. If there is an issue with the final work, please contact the Help Center before the commission is completed.
Second, please try to resolve the issue with the other party first. You can apply for the dispute process in the case where you have attempted to reach an agreement with the other party but were unable to resolve the issue. If you apply for a dispute through the Help Center without having any conversation with the other party, it may be difficult to proceed with the process. This is because the dispute process is not based solely on one party’s request; the conversation between both parties is an important basis for CREPE’s review. The same applies if you choose to skip communication simply because you do not wish to speak with the other party.
Third, supporting evidence is important. CREPE will ask both parties for evidence supporting their positions. This may include agreed-upon commission requirements, details of how the work differed from what was agreed, conversation records showing work was not completed as agreed, evidence that clearly demonstrates the issue is essential. If you cannot clearly identify how the work differed from what was agreed, or if the reason for the dispute is something that cannot be objectively verified, such as finding the other party’s attitude unpleasant, the dispute process may not be able to proceed.
Please keep the scope of the dispute process in mind. The dispute process only covers issues related to the commission payment. The following requests are not included in the scope of mediation:
- Requesting an amount exceeding the original payment or additional compensation.
- Requesting an apology from the other party.
- Requesting an investigation or supervision of the other party, or improvements to their business practices.
- Requesting that a review be written or that the content of a review be modified.
Please also note that partial refunds based on a refund ratio can only be provided in CREPE Points. Partial refunds to the original payment method are not supported.
The CREPE team has prepared a new Help Center guide to explain how you can ask for help when an issue arises during a commission. It covers everything from how to apply and what to expect during the process to important details you should keep in mind, so be sure to check it out.
📌 What should I know before applying for the dispute process?
We hope you never run into any issues during a commission transaction, but if you do, the CREPE team will be here to support you every step of the way. |

Tell Us About Your Favorite Music🎵
There are quite a few music lovers on the CREPE team, so we often find ourselves chatting about songs, artists, and music.
Even if you’re not a huge music fan, most people have at least one genre or song that they really enjoy. For many of us, those favorites may have come from anime or games we hold close to our hearts.
This month we’d like to hear about the music you love and how you enjoy it! |

We Heard About Your Favorite Creative Tools🎨
In our last newsletter, we asked what tools and programs you use for digital creation, and 257 of you shared your answers with us!
We’ll definitely keep your responses in mind as we plan more fun and interesting events in the future. Let’s take a look at the results below!
🗨️ Tell Us Which Creative Tools and Plans You Use.
The most popular tools were mainly drawing and illustration programs. Taking the top spot was CLIP STUDIO PAINT, with 54.5% of respondents saying they use it. We saw a wide range of plans and versions, from PRO and EX to older one-time purchase versions and the latest subscription plans.
In second place was ibisPaint (21.8%), we were especially impressed to hear how many of you create amazing work using only mobile devices. Adobe Photoshop (14.0%) came in third, followed by Procreate (10.5%) in fourth. (Many of you listed multiple tools, so please note that the percentages add up to more than 100%.)
We also received responses for tools outside of illustration. For writing, 25 respondents mentioned tools including Hangeul (Hancom Office Hangeul) (14 respondents), as well as Typy, Pancake, Google Docs, and Novella. We also heard from users working with video tools such as After Effects and Premiere Pro, 3D tools such as SketchUp and Blender, and music tools such as Vocaloid Editor.
🗨️ Tell Us Which Tools You’d Like to Try.
Once again, CLIP STUDIO PAINT came in first (30.0%)! Even among those already using CLIP STUDIO PAINT, many said they’d like to upgrade from PRO to EX or from an older version to version 5.0. We even received one heartfelt response: “please, I just want to be able to buy Clip Studio EX.” More than half of the respondents who currently use ibisPaint or Procreate instead of CLIP STUDIO PAINT said they’d like to give it a try.
Adobe Photoshop came in second (20.2%), followed by Procreate (9.7%). We also heard from many of you who want to expand your creative horizons into 3D and video with tools like Blender and After Effects.
Beyond digital tools, some of you dreamed of getting new equipment, such as pen displays or tablets. And 61 respondents expressed love for their current tools, saying things like, “I’m happy with the tools I use now.” |
